In an attempt to make Emma's speech more intelligible, I've been saying some words in an slow exaggerated fashion. She frequently leaves off initial consonants and syllables, for example saying "pa" rather than "diaper." So I started saying die-puh and now she sounds like something out of Tennessee Williams.
