More Bad Habits
Back in September while we were visiting Nana and Grandpa, Emma slept in her Uncle Tom's childhood room. The room is now a dumping ground of sorts, for childhood toys, collectibles and mementos (think 13-year-old boy). Despite containing a lovely crib, a soft fluffy blanket hand knit by Nana (and just like one Emma has at home), and Grandpa's hand-drawn pictures of Dumbo and Goofy, Emma found the prospect of sleeping there rather intimidating. So in an effort to keep her from freaking out in an unfamiliar room, I offered to leave the door ajar and the hall light on. Big. Mistake. Now - nearly a month later - each night as bedtime approaches, Emma chants, "door open, hall light on, door open, hall light on, door open, hall light on" until we agree to leave the door ajar and the hall light on. I wonder if this has anything to do with her giving up an afternoon nap?
